In 1881, Kintaro Hattori laid the foundations for Seiko and watchmaking in Japan. Hattori opened a clock shop in Ginza, an upmarket part of Tokyo, known for its trendy boutiques. By 1924, watches were produced under the name "Seiko".

Seiko is known for its innovative watch technology. Seiko introduced the world's first quartz watch; the first LCD quartz watch with six-digit digital display, and the world's first TV watch.

Seiko was the watch brand of choice for cinematic icons Sean Connery and Roger Moore in James Bond films.

Seiko is one of the few wristwatch manufacturers that produces all its watches and movements in-house, including the hands and dials, so you can be assured you know exactly where your Seiko watch comes from.
